The Story 'A Very Old Man With Enormous Wings' By Gabriel Garcia Marquez

4. In the story "A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings" by Gabriel Marquez, the character I want to be is the old man. The old man has patience I don’t have especially when people are hurting me. Like in the story the town was throwing things at him and later branding him; which the old man didn’t do or say anything to the town. I wish the old man was not so passive to everyone.
2. While reading "A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings" by Gabriel Marquez, I felt disappointment and anger at the story. And also at Pelayo and Elisenda whom didn’t stop the abuse towards the old man; also they treated him like a pest while he stayed with them. I was angry at the town on how they treated the old man. Then I was glad when the old man flew away.

In Ralph Ellison’s Invisible Man, the main character takes the reader through his violent past to explain how he got to the place he is in life and why he is an invisible man. The invisible man introduces himself and then almost immediately begins to describe a very violent scene. After this, he paints his colorful, bloody past-as he knew life before he was the invisible man. This environment into which the invisible man was thrown is a life of chaos and confusion, and the man eventually decides to accept a new life away from society and into insanity. Two scenes particularly set the mood for the novel as they are towards the beginning and have great affect on the reader’s view of the narrator himself and his view of life.…

There are many characters that you could pick apart and compare yourself to in this story, but an intriguing character that I am both similar and different to is Clarisse. She is very curious and opinionated like I am on a daily basis. Clarisse was never fearful to speak her mind and ironically enough, this might have led to her downfall. One trait I admire her for is being a dreamer and an idealist. Based on her actions and speech, you might conclude that she was a happy, curious soul because she or her family read books.…
