It is not surprising that there are differences between the biblical tribes and Greek warriors when it comes to how they live their life and show respect and honor; after all they lived in a different time period and in separate parts of the world. In the Book of Joshua, deceit is shown in both good and bad forms when Rahab, the prostitute, helps protect the messengers from not being killed by lying to the King of Jericho. Being a prostitute is considered unholy so Rahab is showing that she can change her faith to help protect the people of God. When Achan stole from the pile after the fight in Jericho, it showed that he disobeyed God and there would be consequences. God killed him and his family and treasures to show that people should trust …show more content…
Achilles is ready to battle anyone because of the Achilles heel and how it protects him. He fights to make the army he is part of powerful, and to make people fear them leading to alliances being made. If people fear their army, then they would want to join them for protection and to not be killed, but, not everyone wants to go on their side. Achilles has the Achilles heel which makes him almost immortal which, means that Hector has little to no chance to defeat him. Achilles will fight anyone to show his power and to have glory to his name that would be remembered forever. Since Hector killed Patroclus, thinking it was Achilles, he thought he was even more powerful. Then he realized it was not Achilles so he became even more determined to kill him which, also made Achilles mad that Hector killed his cousin. Hector then says, “For me it would be a great deal better to meet Achilles man to man, kill him, and go home, or get killed before the city, dying in glory (The Iliad, book 22 lines 136-139) .” This proves that it would be nice if Hector could kill Achilles. But the chances are very low so showing his bravery to fight to him one on one could lead to his death being glorified. It shows that he would do anything to have honor for himself, knowing that it is highly possible that he will die, and to have glory showing his
