The Steroid Era in Major League Baseball has been one of the biggest pops in Professional Sports since the 1980s. Steroids or PEDs are a way of cheating the game by gaining a huge advantage over every non steroid user in any way possible. Major League Baseball is a game that revolves around talent and being able to make outstanding plays both mentally and physically to put your team on top. When steroids are mixed into the game, it amazes people for the abilities that some players have compared to others. Players that had outstanding careers and talents to begin with used steroids so they could have more fame than they already had from the start. Barry Bonds trainer Greg Anderson “has been banned from coaching his son, Cole's, Burlingame, Calif. 11-12-year-old youth baseball team”(Thompson). This shows that this is such a huge issue that people involved can’t even help out their kids little league team. Although he only helped one person with their game, it still can lead to bad decisions that will impact others futures and careers. PEDs are such a huge factor when it comes to the game that there has to be precautions when someone is found to be connected to PEDs or a scandal involving them. Also “Baseball legend Barry Bonds was sentenced Friday to two years of probation and 30 days of house arrest for obstruction of justice in a grand jury inquiry into illegal steroid use by professional athletes” (Martinez and Simon). Barry Bonds a star baseball player with a storied career was yet another player caught in the steroid era. With this happening his personal life was changed into probation and house arrest for 2 years due to his decisions. For Bond’s actions to lie and act like nothing ever happened with Greg Anderson could have led to worse consequences than the two of them got.
