Many parents and grandparents have raised complaints that young people today are not as hardworking as their parents, do not set goals, and do not make any effort to meet goals. This is often not true. Today’s generation of young people have defined themselves as the “generation to do things differently”. The “Millennial” Generation grew up in a society of changing norms and shifting values, so it makes sense that their goals would also shift. The problem is not that young people do not have goals; the problem is that they have different goals than their parents did. This complaint is generally true; Millennials do want everything as instantly as possible, but so does everyone else. In a booming age of new and improved technology and services, we become used to having things quickly. Services such as Amazon prime and next-day delivery, as well as products like microwave meals and instant popcorn feed this desire to have everything right away. While members of older generations simply relish and admire the newer, faster services, Millennials have come to expect them in many cases. This overabundance of instant technology has lead to an entitled generation of young people.
