Identity The media has brainwashed many people through their deceitful ways and lies. While they would never admit this, the media is the most racist ‘platform’ on earth. The media can consist of many news platforms such as Fox News, CNN, BBC, Wall Street and much more. social media is also another platform where you can share your life and treasure memories, but many individuals and news platforms use it as a way to directly influence others. There is a saying that one shouldn’t believe everything they view online. Since anyone has the power to put anything online and make it believable. However, does this saying apply to the news platforms that made it their goal to feed people ‘news’ and lies? I don’t believe that the social media is any different than the media itself. This kind of action has never happened before the 1800s and it is eye opening to see women break the stereotypes. Another example is, Oprah Winfrey. Oprah and her influence over society and media is known by almost everyone. From the reading of the book “Oprah Winfrey and the Glamour of Misery: An Essay on Popular Culture” by Eva Illouz, Oprah is described as a woman who came from rags to riches. She has won many awards and has a TV show and a Magazine. Oprah is a “cultural phenomenon” (pg 2). She has been labeled as the highest paid entrepreneur by Forbes and won at least 30 Emmy awards. Oprah is a leader for many women around the world. She is seen as a successful women in business, a leader and most definitely is not a disgrace to all women.
