Ah... There are many reasons, many cultures, ages, both female and male alike. The Fandom brings so much to the die-hard Whovian. The Doctor who franchise has a very large fan base. Imagination, addiction, suspension the cliff hanger's always want to see what is going to happen next. Durning the whole episode ( or most of them the viewer is at their edge of their sofa.) Even for some people Doctor Who weekly adventure's are some kind of liberation to their plagued life, that brings a glimpse of happiness even though it's about an hour. Because if a person works a minimum wage job are they not allowed to escape from their reality, even though it's not that long. Or a fifteen-year girl whose parents died and now in the care of her sexually abused stepfather isn't she allowed for that fragment piece of hope? Or a Twenty-six-year-old college girl that can't get her muse for her creative writing course because her parents and teachers have killed her imitation at very young age?
