This is part of the evolution of American culture. For instance, women in the work place, as stated above, women hardly worked. Now, they are CEO’s of fortune 500 companies. What about Soldiers in WWI versus the Soldiers that are fighting terrorism. There are women in the military now that serve at every level, to include combat arms. This would seem very strange to the Soldiers who fought during that time period, however, it’s completely normal for the Soldiers that serve today. These examples are large generalization, however, they serve the purpose of this discussion. Would a Soldier from WWI be able to relate to a Soldier of today? Absolutely. There may be some differences between the two, however, I think the core values and their overall experiences would allow for them to easily relate. Conversely, I don’t believe that women from the early 1900s would relate as easily to the women of today.
