Personal Narrative: My Experience In Ministry

When I began this course, my mindset remained that my spiritual formation stood strong. Even though I knew I had dark side issues, to my knowledge they had never come to the surface. That mindset was challenged in 2012 when I experienced personal attacks from members of my church in which I had yet to experience in ministry. The personal nature of the attacks helped me to realize I had unresolved issues from my youth. At the time of the incidents, I did not have the tools I needed to be able to properly deal with my issues. I struggled with internal anger issues and hurt from the incidents. This course has helped give me the tools to be able to unpeel the layers of my hurt. The incidents challenged me to work on my soul. I desire to make sure if a similar situation, I will be able to handle it in a healthier manner. I do not need to experience the anger and frustration I felt ever again. Compulsive leaders will seek to maintain control at all costs. Narcissistic leaders will make decisions for an organization based on what will benefit their ever-growing need to feed their egos. Solomon stood as man with serious ego issues. (McIntosh & Rima, 2007). Paranoid leaders will not trust people. Richard Nixon’s Presidency was destroyed as a result of his paranoia. Codependent leaders will seek to please everybody in order to be liked. Leaders need to be able to ascertain at what is best for the organization versus what is best for certain
