Heavenly Father loves and cares for us. He loved us in the pre-mortal existence, he
loves us now, and he will love us forever. We are His children. He strives to help us grow
through giving lessons that allow us to become better individuals and develop our spiritual
gifts. True to the Faith explains that spiritual gifts are the “blessings or abilities that are
given by the power of the Holy Ghost.” Each of us are given unique blessings from the
Spirit that not only help ourselves, but are to be used to help those around us as well. The

The Gift to know that Jesus is the Christ

This gift is the opportunity to know through the Spirit the truthfulness of Jesus
Christ and what he did to save mankind. Gifts of the spirit can be used to strengthen a
personal testimony of the Savior and His atonement. The atonement was the greatest
sacrifice that has ever been given. With that, it is vital that we recognize its necessity in our
lives and cherish its value. Upon learning this concept, it is important that we share and
teach others about such a sacrifice. As we build our own foundation upon Christ and his
teachings, we will be able to help others strengthen their own groundwork as well
(Helaman 5:12). This gift is key in both missionary work and raising a family. Both
concepts require great dependence on having an understanding of who Christ is and what

deceived by worldly distractions. As we work each day to draw closer to the spirit and its
promptings, the Devil will come to have less control over our decisions and us.

“And again, verily I say unto you, to some is given, by the Spirit of God, the word of
wisdom.” – Doctrine and Covenants 46:17
This gift is the ability to use knowledge in righteous ways. As we ask of God in
prayer and scripture study, we are promised of the opportunity to gain a divine
understanding (James 1:5). It is important that we turn to the Lord every day and stay in
communication with Him. As we gain new insights from this communication, we should
desire to use it to make important decisions and strengthen our testimony. Wisdom about
the gospel will not only help us in this earthly life, but also in our eternal life.

“To another is given the word of knowledge, that all may be taught to be wise and to
have knowledge.” – Doctrine and Covenants 46:18
The gift of knowledge varies from the gift of wisdom because of the idea of
obedience. Knowledge involves not just understanding God’s will and his
