The spinal cord injury (SCI) Alberta value and principles are mostly ideal with the CASW principles. I had mixed emotions and emotions of excitement about the spring practicum. As I knew I would learn a great deal about 2nd-year practicum throughout the semester and I also stressed about the time and finding the agency fit with my time. The first week of at work was a very important time for me to establish a tone for what will happen the rest of the time and the foundation day of how I reduce all the anxieties and how to manage the work environment. I always came to the first day and week asking a question myself, what can I do to establish a positive beginning? Therefore, during the past two weeks practicum, I expressed a willingness/eagerness to learn and contribute as much as possible, even though sometimes extends beyond my maximum practicum hour mandate with a community development coordinator. I am able to establish good communication and rapport with all staff and my supervisor. The first week of my goals were to familiarize myself with the agency and to learn how the organization functions in various programs and services. My supervisor sent an email and verbally told to all staff in the office to set up appointments and interview them on their roles and how they assist people with a spinal cord injury …show more content…
Therefore, their approach increased my belief my capacities to organize and execute the courses of action required producing given attainments. During these two weeks practicum and on my entire practicum, I have felt to gain valuable knowledge, including what needs to be done in order to help a person with disabilities during tiff situation and how to create the effective environment for the organization I will serve by respecting the Inherent dignity and worth of Persons. Moreover, I will learn how to empower others with the Ideas that may assist a person with disabilities to include empowering them to connect them to the community after injury and were to advocate for their rights and possibilities. I want to continue to interacting respectfully with site facilitator, all SCI staff, clients and community relationships.
