The speeches of Fredrick Douglass and Dr. Martin Luther King, have made history and won the hearts of millions. To abolition slavery was an ongoing controversy throughout the United States of American for many years. All the efforts that these two men have made has caused a great and wonderful impacted on the now transformed America. However, sad and unkind, there is still racism that continues to this day. Hopefully one day as Dr. King had envisioned we all will be equal, both men and women of all color and race. This is still a dream and eventually this dream and peace will come.

Born January 15, 1929 In Atlanta Georgia, Dr. King was originally given the name Michael King Jr. He later took the name Martin Luther after his father did from a German protestant religious leader (King, M. L. Jr. 2015). King was a depressed boy who tried committing suicide at the age of 12 after his grandmother died. While growing up King was never into religion, as it worried and bothered him; however, he soon realized that the ministry was his calling. "In a sense we have come to our nation 's capital to cash a check. When the architects of our republic wrote the magnificent words of the Constitution and the declaration of Independence, they were signing a promissory note to which every American was to fall heir.
