First, I will be reflecting on two strengths, I believe I had when giving my speeches. My first strength would be my transitions and second strength would be my introduction. After, watching my Informative Speech video, I feel like my transitions were pretty solid. Once, I was done with one point, I made sure to summarize that point and then give a preview of what my next point would be. My second strength was the delivery of my introduction, because I caught my audience’s attention when I stated that, “I did not have to worry about paying off my college debts.” Getting your audience’s attention is extremely important; if their attention is not captured, then they really have no interest in what you are speaking about. You would not want to discuss something your audience does not find interesting. It is important for them to be intrigued once you’ve concluded your speech. Another, important point is to make sure you are using appropriate language use, depending on the average age of your audience. In the context of my speeches, I am addressing college students. It is important for me not to offend my audience at any time throughout my speech. My informative speech topic, was about how Ewing Kauffman, played a major role in education. I feel like the topic was quite relevant to my audience, because I was informing them about someone who played a major role in education for Kansas City. When giving a persuasive speech, for example, it is important to remember that not everyone in your audience is going to agree with your claim.
