Reflection Paper: The Special Education Team

The Special Education Team The Special Education Team comes from the same school district. The district is comprised of approximately of 2500 students with approximately 125 special needs students. Mrs. Lori Fairchild-Romero The special education teacher, has been teaching special needs students 25 years. She has her Bachelor’s degree in EMH (Educable Mental Handicapped) and her Master’s in Early Childhood Special Education. Mrs. Fairchild-Romero has completed the Place Test for Generalist she is highly qualified to work with any student with a disability that comes into the district. The general education teacher, Beth Foster has been teaching for 28 years in some form of general education. She has her Bachelor and Master’s degrees in Elementary Education. Mike Andrews (Principal) is the Administrator for the School/Team however he was not able to attend the interview and our parent did not wish to have their name listed in the interview but did answer questions off line. Mrs. Fairchild-Romero noted that she often sits in for Mr. Andrews as the Administrator for the school …show more content…
The special education teacher has a full understanding of her special education students IEP. They are able to communicate/educate and develop with the general education teacher the accommodations, modifications and adaptions that may be required to meet those students to help in meeting their students academic, social and health goals. They are key in letting the student’s learning and support teams what the behavior plan is. The special education teacher helps in developing interventions and seeing that they implemented correctly with the student’s support learning team.
