September 15,1950, the invasion at Inchon was led by veteran Admiral Arthur Dewey Struble. Sometime around 0630 the first group of United Nations troops was ashore "Green Beach" on Wolmi-do. The island was captured by noon. During the afternoon they defended the land bridge to Inchon, while in anticipation of reinforcement. The invasion on Inchon was a surprise to the North Korean People Army like General MacArthur said. The fatality during the Inchon invasion and a following battle for the town had 566 killed and 2,716 wounded. The North Korean People Army lost more than 35,000, both killed and captured. This plan helped crack the North Korean combative and United Nation servicemen sent them back over the 38th Parallel. United Nation servicemen made their way to North Korea Capital, Pyongyang. In Eisenhower campaign, he stated he would end the war in Korea. July 27,1953 a consent of agreement was established at Panmunjom . An armistice was signed by North Korea, the United Nations, and China. The treaty made it to where neither side could expand the number of Non-Korean military personnel stationed in Korea. South Korea, however, did not want to sign the armistice. The armistice made a 2.5 mile demilitarized zone between South and North Korea along the 38th parallel. In this zone all troops and weapons shall be banished. After the war Korea remained split into two areas, North and South Korea. After the signing and understanding of the armistice Korea would remain split and divide some families.
