The Soul of a Dreamer

Out of all of the works of art created over the centuries none can compare to the artwork of Vincent Van Gogh; specifically the piece known as “The Starry Night (1889)”. Vincent was a mentally ill man, who suffered from severe depression causing many of his portraits to have a fatalistic, sad tone to them. Many believe that his paintings reflected his current state of mental wellbeing whatever the case, it is clear that his style creates blissfully unique pieces of art. During the 1800’s Art was mainly painted in three styles, Realism, Impressionism, and Romanticism; because of this Vincent Van Gogh’s paintings were not seen as anything more than a strange, ugly, art style. Today however, Vincent Van Gogh’s artwork is praised as being among the most beautiful and emotional pieces of art mankind has produced. This is due to the fact that over time humankind as a species has learned to broaden our narrow perspectives on life and what is considered beautiful.
Vincent Van Gogh was born March 30th, 1853, in the small town of Groot-Zundert Netherlands. His father was the town’s Minister, while his mother was an emotional artist who loved nature and using watercolors for her paintings. Vincent obviously got his artistic talents from his mother; sadly his talents would not be appreciated until long after he had passed. Around the age of fifteen Vincent’s family had come under hard times financially, Vincent was pulled out of school and set to work at his uncle’s art dealership. maybe not in a bold, noticeable way, but he has nonetheless. Vincent Van Gogh’s “The Starry Night” uses an artistic lens to paint a view of the world that no one else can replicate; this specific painting exudes emotion in waves and touches the hearts of those who view it.Vincent had a rough life, he lived most of it in poverty and emotional turmoil- but he decided to make something out of his emotions instead of wallow in them. Because of how he lived, and what he has created Vincent Van Gogh will be remembered
