The Sophics: A Short Story

Sofia lives in a small pink house in the corner between the police station and the park in Micanopy Florida. The home only had 1 window, which most people in the town would not mind, but Sofia did. This little town was inhabited by the fixators and the sophics. Fixators were the people that got zapped into their smart glasses. They do not need to look up or communicate because all they needed in their lives were through those lenses. The sophics were the cursed ones. They were the ones who got bothered by just 1 window, with just no words, with just those glasses. They could not stay fixated on their smart glasses and did not mind when curiosity took them over. The police of Micanopy were all Sophics, and were on the lookout for any sophics that were not in the force. These sophics were considered outlaws and if caught …show more content…
Sofia jumped to her other shoulder and let her frail hand drop on the snooze button. As she struggled to get comfortable again she realized it was December 6th. She got dressed and ran out the door. She sat in the cafe as the waitress brought her regular order with an additional slice of vanilla cake. Many men walked in all with flushed faces and brown hair, but none had blue eyes. The sun was fully out now and there was still no sign of her sophic best friend. She got up and shuffled out the door in disappointment. Her birthday spirit diminished every time she saw a guy that was not the right one. She walked down to the cafe, park, gift shop, and the supermarket twice yet all of them resulted in a waste of time.
When she got home she closed went to plop onto her sofa. But rather she froze. The guy was right there sitting on her sofa. He blurted “ Please don’t call the cops I just could not stop wondering what happened last night. Our eyes met. Which means your a...a...a sophic. You have to be.”
Sofia stiffly giggled and said “ don't worry I won't call the cops. I feel the same way in fact .it's
