There are tons of suitors in Odysseus home wanting to wed Penelope, his wife. They are living there waiting for her to decide. Penelope’s son Telemachus is in great danger because he is 20. At the age of 21 he will be able to take his father’s spot as king and have reign of Ithaca. The suitors would literally kill Telemachus just to have power. Telemachus decides to sail out to Sparta in search of his father. Before getting on the boat he gets a visit from the Goddess Athena. She informs Telemachus that his father Odysseus is in fact alive.
