The films plot of the story is to show you what families went through during the American Revolution and that some families were burned along with their houses. in the movie there was this family and the oldest son went to go sign up for war, when he signed up, the next day, there was a war outside of his dad’s house and he came inside with a huge cut in him. he was taken care of by his dad. The next day, there was about 20 other people that were injured being taken care of by his family. When the General came and thanked him for the care, he took his son because he ran away because he was hurt, then shot all of the other injured guys because he had no use for them. When he gets there he searches the house with a few others he didn’t find them. When the soldiers “left” they went down into a cellar to escape. They were sneaking around behind bushes and trees so they would not see them. The soldiers eventually burned down their Aunt’s plantation with torches, but their father (the Aunt’s brother) comes and tries to save them by bringing other people and basically stalling them so they wouldn’t find the others sneaking around. There we gunshots but nobody was hurt. They dragged away the soldiers and then they escaped so none of them would be found. Also Some of the soldiers on their team were captured so they said they “surrendered”, but they actually didn’t and they tricked them by saying that they had 18 of their Lieutenants, etc. (but they really didn’t). So they would make a “trade”, 18 of our troops for 18 of your troops). There we people out there aimed with guns at the “troops” and our general said “If you don’t give us our troops back, then we’ll shoot your troops.” So we got our troops back. When they said that they had 18 of their troops they were really just scarecrows that looked like their troops. Our army ended up tricking them and getting our troops back without any harm, until they found
