I believe that the sociological theory might be able to explain why Filho was involved in criminal acts. The sociological theory states that the social environment is the cause of criminal behaviour. This is because there are broken bonds between the individual and society’s institutions. It is evident that Filho was raised in a very toxic environment, his family did very little to adhere to the social values and norms of the society they lived in. Filho was not devoted to his education, was unable to maintain a healthy relationship with his family, and did not have a strong relationship with religion. Since he did not have many friends and was not attached to society’s institutions, Filho felt incredibly disconnected and isolated from society.
