An independent variable is defined in our book as; a variable in a causal relationship that causes or influences a change in another variable. A dependent variable is defined as a variable in a causal relationship that is subject to the influence of another variable. Cause vs. Correlation is cause vs. effect. The causal logic is the relationship between a condition or variable and a particular consequence, with one leading the other. The cause is what you start your research with, you want a base or a beginner to then test verse what you are trying to prove.
