Structural-functional analysis focuses on the changes the workplace incurred because of technology, while symbolic interaction focus is “the meaning people attach to the surrounding world as they construct everyday reality” (Macionis, 2015, p.342). The third analysis, social-conflict emphasizes social inequality of the workplace, each highlighting different aspects of the workplace. The structural-functional analysis is the only analysis that develops the social problem and evaluates the changes needed to cope with the problem. This analysis identifies the social problems caused by technology but also looks at the educational and social changes needed to assist the employee with the loss of manufacturing jobs and the training needed for employees to move toward the new technology and service jobs. The other two analysis identifies the the social problems but doesn’t identify social changes needed to resolve the problems. The symbolic-interaction analysis is a micro level analysis, focusing on the individuals. It looks at both the primary and secondary jobs, their workplace, and how it affects the individual and their ability to make a satisfactory life. But humans are resilient, and we have risen to the occasion again, learning new technology, taking advantage of remote communication trends, and learning to adapt to the technology revolution by discarding the manufacturing jobs and taking on the technology jobs. Now most people have a cell phone, computer or access to the computer, and are communicating and working electronically more than ever. While social problems have risen from the technology revolution, humans have also found coping and growing mechanism to provide a better life for
