Seeing these topics through the sociological eye, that is looking at things for what they are and forming ideas and patterns regarding them, can be challenging for me at times. It’s hard to see something for what it is in an unbiased way. Gender equality is one of these frustrating topics. Biology says that all persons are equal because all humans have to do is breed, raise children, and die. History on the other hand, says that females are less superior to males and that it is the males who hold the most power. Today, I see males dominating in many different areas of society. It is obvious that they are a large group of people working together, but what is less understandable for me is that corporations are treated as a single person and withhold the same rights and responsibilities of a person. Corporations can easily “sweep things under the rug” by advertising the positive elements of their products instead of addressing the attributes that pose potential downfall and even lawsuits for the corporation. The only thing that is big enough and powerful enough to regulate these large corporations are the government. But even then, corporations have so much wealth that they just pay the fines and move
