Childhood obesity has become a serious issue throughout our society. Everywhere we go now we hear about young children dealing with some type of health problem due to being obese or overweight. Obesity is having excess body fat and overweight as having excess body weight for a particular height from fat. It is a sad case when we see young children with diabetes type 2 or heart problems. It is a serious matter seeing how many deaths occur every year and how many children are diagnosed with diabetes.

Adulthood obesity can lead to many health problems such as heart disease, diabetes, and even cancer. In the article, “ Obesity is a Family Affair” it states that although genetics are likely to play a role in whether or not someone becomes overweight or obese, a family 's lifestyle also has a major impact (Serena Gordon, 2008). Families’ impact in child obesity comes from different cultures as well. For example, in a Mexican lifestyle, they are not used to eating salads, more used to eating a lot of tortillas, which is made of corn that contains a lot of carbs. Also families impact depending how involve the parents are and how they choose to organize their family time. In the generation we are living in now, technology is taking over which is preventing children from doing physical activities such as playing sports, riding bikes, running, walking due to the fact that they are carried away with their cellphones, computer and social media. Children from this generation are less active and that is why the numbers on child obesity are rising up each year. This also impacts our communities because the higher the numbers for obesity goes up the more it affects us as a whole because we be facing more death and more illness. We need to work hard and devout time for our children and try to find solutions to put a stop to this. It is a sad story when we hear little children who are sick and are diagnosed with diabetes types 2. We know it is a serious issue when candy, chips, and all the other junk food is more affordable than vegetables, and fruits. All the billion dollars that is been invested on childhood obesity can be invested in helping these children by creating safer environment and creating more programs to help children lose weight. If we as a society come together we can end this and save more lives and have healthier
