The Social Impact Of Homelessness On Children

Families’ being the largest growing population group among the homelessness is something that I did not know. When a parent is jobless or for whatever reason becomes homeless, this affects the children. Homeless shelters and other support services are usually geared towards single men and women, and not equipped for families. It is especially hard to keep a family of four together. The father may have to stay at a men’s shelter, while the mother stays at a women’s shelter and the children have to go somewhere else. So in this case, even when support services are technically available to them, it might not be the option they want to take. With a family, they may choose to be together, even if that means they are homeless.
