The Industrial Revolution began in Great Britain around 1750. With the dream of a better life, workers left the countryside and flocked to cities where they hoped to cash in on the great material progress and find jobs in the growing industries. A series of inventions such as: the spinning jenny (engine) invented by Englishman, James Hargreaves allowed factories to mass produce fabrics. The power loom was another key invention that contributed to the weaving of cloth mechanically. Both iron and steel were plentiful and a series of inventions allowed factories to produce cast iron and steel in factories. Machines of all kinds, buildings, bridges, ships etc. were built as a result of the mass production of steel and iron.
