The Juvenile Detention System is effected because every year an estimated 500,000 youth are brought to juvenile detention centers and more than 26,000 of them youth are detained (Ziedenberg, n.d.). The entire community these juvenile’s delinquents are transitioning back into after detention safety is at risk. Especially in urban communities which is practically a warzone due to the easy access to firearms, drugs, gang infested and poverty stricken. In fact, annual violent crime rate is 74% higher in urban areas than the suburbs which is 34% (Morris, n.d.). The families of these children are effected because they need assistance with parenting skills on how to manage their kid’s behavioral issues, they need corrective actions that are effective in discipline them for breaking the rules and improving the family dynamics to keep children at home and in our communities and out of the criminal justice
