As I walked in to the old change room that most likely haven’t been cleaned since… well ever judging by with the amount of dirt and leaves on the floor. I could hear their laughter and feel their judgement. I walked over to my best friend Mikayla trying to ignore them. Mikayla and I are the only aboriginal girls on the soccer team. None of the other girls talk to Mikayla that much, probably because she is tall and muscular unlike me. However we are really good friend. The rest of the girls on the soccer team are just stuck up brats and get what they want when they want. The leader of their little army is Eilie a stuck up princess with rich parents and a bad attitude, Mikayla thinks the only reason she is one the team is because her parents are bribing the coach. …show more content…
I needed to escape. Then Mikayla grabbed my hand because she could see I was upset and angry. Mikayla turned around and walked right up to Eilie’s face.
“You have no right talking about something you know nothing about.” said Mikayla
“Ummm, can you please get your disgusting face away from mine.” said Eilie
“She is not worth it Mikayla, let’s go” I said
“Eilie honey we have to go your mum is waiting for us at home” said Eilie’s dad shouting it from across the car park, which wasn’t really a car park it was just a patch of dirt with some tree branches used as outlines. As we are getting in the car, coach walks over and starts talking to my dad. He had a very worried look on his face.
“Ummm I don’t know how to say this sir but… there has been a few complaints from some of the parents” said coach.
“Well hurry up and say it, I gotta meet people!” said dad “They are concerned about their child’s safety when you show up to practise drunk” said coach
“Who, who said that who said it!” shouted dad
“The parents” muttered coach
Dad stormed off towards Eilie’s car and grabbed her dad by his shirt and pushed him down to the ground and started punching him over and over

Many teenagers dislike going to school but for some, school and sports are their only escape of the reality of being homeless. If these kids don't have sports to keep them going they would just drop out of school and they would keep the cycle going for their future kids. Isaiah Lambs is a perfect example of why having an athletic program at every school is important. Isaiah was sleeping pretzeled in the back of his mom's tiny car for months on end. He also missed so many tournaments because him and his mom couldn't afford the entrance fees.…

1.1 Positive Parental Involvement Recently, speculation of the role and expectations associated with being a good sports parent have been identified with a clear pattern of positive and negative themes emerging. Parents set the course of a young persons life, primarily because they provide ample opportunities and sources of information- exerting significant influence (Coakley, 1992, cited in Cahill and Pearl, 1993). Although all parents display a broad spectrum of involvement within sports, studies have supported the notion that positive parental involvement outwardly relates to positive predictors of enjoyment, participation and continued membership. However, what appears to be of great significance is that this may not be directly related…

An extensive report about sports-related concussions in young people, released last week by the Institute of Medicine and the National Research Council, made recommendations that included bolstering research, collecting data, examining injury protocols and educating the public. But the report identified one particularly stubborn challenge: the “culture of resistance” among high school and college athletes, who may be inclined to shrug off the invisible injuries and return immediately to the field. “There is still a culture among athletes,” the report said, “that resists both the self-reporting of concussions and compliance with appropriate concussion management plans.” Dr. Frederick P. Rivara, a pediatrician at the University of Washington’s…

The parents are often furious when the child does not play to their expectations, they take it personally when the child shows emotion or does not preform at an elite level. All parents believe putting their child or children into sports is a good idea but they do not realize the down fall of it. Some parents believe they should push for their child to play sports, however they do not realize the pressure and stress they are putting on the child. Forcing children into sports can be substandard because it could cause stress to the child, make the child resent their parent, or self confuse the child of what they really want to do. Parents that make sports a priority in a child's life do not understand the stress it causes to the child. Though it may not be evident to the parent but pushing the child too much could cause the child to get injured.…
