Many teachers appreciate the immediate feedback they get when students are paired to the IWB for assessments (Ferriter, 2010) Some things teachers can use WBs for are modelling ideas and strategies, demonstrating theories, and explaining difficult problems (De Vita, Verschaffel, & Elen, 2014). Effective use of interactive whiteboards in classroom instruction leads to numerous advantages in learning. Using interactive whiteboards in the classroom contributes to the learning process through increasing the teachers’ proficiency level, facilitating student-centered instructional performances and changing many experienced teachers’ attitudes toward technology (Balta & Duran, 2015). App is an abbreviated form of the word application. According to techtarget.com (2015), an app is a software program that’s designed to perform a specific function directly for the user. Schools all over the nation purchase web apps and software to assist in the educating of students in all grade levels. Many teachers have found that these apps keep their students excited about learning (Skinner, 2015). Apps can serve as portable interactive whiteboards. Math apps that run on portable tablets provide great opportunities for math learning. According to Zhang, Trussell, Gallegos, and Asam (2015), math apps allow learners to work on math problems at their own pace. This can be extremely beneficial for struggling students who need more time to solve a problem. Math apps can also provide learners immediate feedback about their performance. This feedback would be difficult for educators to provide during general instruction under other circumstances (Zhang, Trussell, Gallegos, & Asam, 2015). ShowMe, Educreations Interactive Whiteboard, and ScreenChomp are a few apps that are free to download. These apps record pen strokes and audio concurrently.
