As the handle was pulled, I breathed in deep, and exhaled just as hard. And that was the end, My whole life leading there.
“Everyone off!!” The Guard shouted. I sat in the back of the bus, young and fearful of the things to come. All fifteen or so of us shuffled off the Bus in a straight line. As we all walked through the small court of the prison, I could hear the inmates who had gathered yelling at the top of their lungs…”Fresh Meat”, “Little Lambs”, things along those lines anyway. They walked me across the Yards, towards the Administration building that I had first stepped in months ago. As the door closed behind me, I could see another bus of new inmates coming in, the next lot of me.More people about to find out the answers to things, here at the end. I was given a change of clothes, a clean, well pressed pair this time.
