Communication is an important skill that many lack or simply fail to perform from time to time. This is not a simple skill as it does not merely consist of exchanging words to another person, but it requires that the person that is sending the message, send it clear, in such a way that others understand what was intended to be said. Being this, a valuable skill, specifically on health care teams, it is the main reason why as part of the Interprofessional Skills and Team-based Healthcare II course they have been training us on how to effectively work and communicate with other healthcare professionals. As part of the course they gave us a brief case that narrated how a patient arrived to the emergency room unresponsive, with uncontrolled blood pressure and sugar levels. As a team we had to work together to come up with a plan of treatment as well as the necessary procedures that had to be taken considering the patient 's best interest. After discussing with the team and providing my input on how a pharmacist would proceed, we answered several questions regarding the case and proceeded to submit an electronic copy of the questions.

Through this process I learned the importance of being part of a team and how communication could either lead to success or failure of a team performance, but most importantly how communications can greatly impact a patient for better or for worse.
