Overview of the Crank Trilogy The books that I chose to do my report on were the Crank trilogy, Crank, Glass, and Fallout, by Ellen Hopkins. Crank was published in 2004, Glass was published in 2007, and the last book, Fallout came out in 2013. Ellen Hopkins wrote these books when she had a personal experience when her daughter, Kristina, started using "the monster" after she met the wrong person. She wrote the books to help herself understand why her daughter did it, then she realized that other people would relate to it and how many people had the same story.…

    Baby Driver Film Analysis

Though it teeters on the edge of loving its style far more than its substance, Edgar Wright's exhilarating Baby Driver is a film that takes the getaway driver/crime story and turns it on its ear. Almost Literally. Through the use of a near constant, 30-plus song soundtrack that keeps the music pulsing and shifting gears like the transmissions our titular character pushes to the limits in all the cars he commandeers and drives in and around a busy few weeks in Atlanta. Known as Baby, our soft-cheeked protagonist is played by Ansel Elgort, quietly exuding a simmering confidence as the #1 choice as getaway driver for Doc (Kevin Spacey), a ringleader of numerous heists and robberies in the city. Doc never uses the same team twice and Baby is constantly having to reintroduce himself to the ragtag crew Doc assembles.…

The opening first few minutes of a film do a lot to tell the audience what kind of experience they have just sat down to watch. The opening sequence can set up the main characters, the location of the film, time period in which the film is taking place, or it may simply just be a place for credits to go. The opening scene also does a lot in setting up some of the films themes. Comedies for example may start off by a main character telling a joke, or being put in a humorous situation. This gets the audience (hopefully) laughing, and sets the tone for the rest of the film.…

The 1995 movie Clueless directed and written by Amy Heckerling is a typical comical coming of age teenage movie. Following a social dominant and extravagant teenage girl named Cher Horowitz, ironically, the movie displays the effects of her “social project” with Tai Fraser. Through the lens of this social project, the themes of perceptions of desire attributes and the dominant stereotypical culture in high school are explored. With the use of the costumes, characters, and script, Heckerling comments on the significance of fashion and social relations in high school.…
