The Singing Christmas Trees

Last year I went to go see the Singing Christmas Trees at First Baptist Church of Orlando. Seeing this production is one of my favorite things to do around Christmas, because it is the perfect mixture of singing, dancing, and acting to get me into the holiday spirit. The show had a strong opening number as the orchestra and chorus started playing and singing ‘Joy to the World’ at strongly at forte with many harmonies. Throughout the rest of the show the orchestra played countless other Christmas songs and hymns, which were breathtaking because they were together at a steady tempo, and were all in tune with each other. The acting and dancing throughout the show was also unforgettable. The acts were focused on telling Christ-related stories

“The hair was curiously stirred, as if by breath or hot air.” (Dickens 14) The ghosts in Charles Dickens novel A Christmas Carol were portrayed creatively and the director of one of the many film interpretations recreated the ghosts almost exactly like Dickens. Three of the ghosts in the film seemed to the most tantamount to the ghosts interpreted in the movies. They were: the ghost of Jacob Marley, the ghost of Christmas past, and the ghost of Christmases yet to come.…

On Sunday, June 21st, I went to see the Dallas Symphony Orchestra perform “The Music of John Williams and Hollywood’s Great Composers” at Stonebriar Community Church in Frisco. The concert was held in the church’s worship room at 6:30pm. This was a great place for the DSO to perform because the audience and the orchestra were very close and, in a way, felt more personal. The show included fourteen pieces: “Overture to Captain Blood by Korngold, ‘Tara’ – A Short Poem for Orchestra from Gone with the Wind by Steiner, arr.…

Most of the audience was filled with parents and their children so it’s enjoyable for the children but the parents seemed more intrigued with the concession stands that had candy, popcorn, and hot chocolate for a reasonable price. I myself, as part of the audience, felt the same way towards the play. It was hard to put myself into the play because most of it was confusing and you really had to have a background on ‘A Christmas Carol’ in order to know what the story line was. For the Christmas season, this would be a great play for younger children that have a big imagination.…

The beginning takes place in Acts 6:1-3 where Peter and the other apostles are faced with a challenge within the Chrisitan community. A Christmas Carol Analysis I have loved A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens since I was little so I was very excited to see how Michael Daehn brought this iconic story to life. In his version, I believe that Daehn wanted to convey the heart of this story. To share the message of hope and selflessness and redemption and perhaps to inspire and enlighten the audience. By choosing to use a version of this play that incorporates music he not only brought this story to life but brought the audience into the story.…

Holidays, in addition to being a festive time for celebrating with friends and family, is also a time to enjoy classic fine arts together. A stable every Christmas season is the Nutcracker, which the literature is republished in multiple forms including play, dance, and orchestra concerts. This season I had the pleasure of being a audience of The Nutcracker presented at the McCaw Hall. The show was phenomenal, and included moments of cheerfulness and happiness, but during others moments of grave danger and suspense. The performers applied contrasting bodily techniques and motions to express different emotions, and wrapped up the scene with appropriate props and decors that awed the audience ever time the stage came to light.…

This past Sunday I attended the school play, which was a comedy based along the storylines of The Christmas Carol. I noticed many people from the community brought their children along for the comedy. For someone who doesn’t really care for plays, or Christmas it was somewhat interesting to go into the play having doubts beforehand and coming out of it with a different view. The exposition started off the same as The Christmas Carrol.…
