With Sobel being overshadowed by his own father’s rising success as a psychiatrist with his various exciting clientele. As well as Vitti who unconsciously blames himself for his own father’s death, is extremely determined not to share the same fate as his father. Another similarity shown between the two characters is that both have hit a dead end in their professions.
