Have you ever wondered the similarities and differences between Joaquin Guzman (El Chapo) and Pablo Escobar? Joaquin Guzman and Pablo Escobar are the most popular drug lords in the entire world. Joaquin Guzman is a Mexican drug lord that is the leader of a group known as the Sinaloa Cartel. Pablo Escobar was a Colombian drug lord that was the leader of the Medellin Cartel. These two drug lords have earned billions of dollars from selling drugs all across the world. Joaquin Guzman and Pablo Escobar share similarities and differences in their childhood, prime time, business strategies, and criminal activities.

El Chapo’s exact date of birth is still unclear to this day, but two dates are given from different sources which are April 4th, 1957

The Sinaloa Cartel is responsible for at least 35% of the cocaine made in Columbia, as well as 80% of the cocaine, heroin, meth, and marijuana in the US. A fun fact about El Chapo is that when he goes out to eat at restaurants, he gets his crew to lock down the place to make sure nobody leaves or uses their cell phone and also pays for everybody’s meal(s). Escobar had drugs sent out to the US, Mexico, and Europe. He had about 15 tons of cocaine sent to the US every single day. He then started associating himself with more people, that caused his name to get out there to bigger drug lords at the time. Gallardo, which was a pretty big name in the drug trafficking community, recruited Guzman to his cartel and from then on he has been involved with dealing drugs. He has been accused of causing thousands of murders from giving instructions to cartel members and allies to protect him as much as possible. In 1993, he was arrested and sent to a maximum security prison in Mexico. While he was in that prison, he maintained order within his cartel and managed to bribe some of the prison guards in order for him to do so, After a while, he escaped the prison with the help of these prison guards by hiding in a laundry cart. It wasn’t until 2014 that Guzman got arrested again, but this time it only took him 18 months to escape through a tunnel. Not too long after this encounter with the police, he managed to dodge another opportunity of arrest causing him to have some injuries. Finally, he was arrested at the start of 2016 and sent to the same high security prison he escaped from before. Pablo Escobar started off by stealing cars, selling fake lottery tickets, and taking part in other illegal activities.
