Through out the past few decades people have found it easier and easier to love based on the inside ignoring the perception of the outer traits. Biracial and Multiracial people have been on the rise and will continue to be for the many years to come. Although this has been on the rise in a positive way their is still some negative connotation which is involved usually with the individuals themselves. As absurd as it sounds it happens. Specifically when reading articles or just hearing people of multiple races speak they generally identify with the struggle to fit in to one particular group. How it is hard because they do not mesh with one group and they hate it, or how it is extremely hard to identify themselves on applications or just in basic conversation. Different people you meet will have a higher chance of maybe having a nationality the same as you, which can give two individuals something to have in common! Even though as an individual you cannot be defined as one thing or put into one specific group being biracial or multiracial is a beautiful thing. It is the true symbol of unity. It represents people who were able to preserver past their outer differences to love the inside. As mixed people we show what true beauty in this world is. For example, their was a young women online who I saw was told to kill herself because she was mixed. This particular situation actually frustrated me, especially because the young women took it into consideration and slowly began to hate herself more and more. This made me open my eyes to how many horrible situations like this occur each and every day so I had to speak out upon it. For some reason our world has been very black & white and mixed people seem to get lost in the mess of it. I let her see a different perspective and I told her to view it as a gift, a privilege! I went on to say if she gets stares or comments she should feel happy not

America has changed a lot over the years. It has been considered the “melting pot” because many races and cultures are able to come together and coexist together in peace. With many couples also becoming more integrated, this brings about the birth of biracial children. While the birth of a child is a wonderful occurrence, the birth of a child whose parents are from two completely different races can spawn confusion not only to the parents but to the child or children who are unsure about their own racial identity. As children develop through their lifespan, they experience different hurdles that could change their lives.…

We must stop categorizing biracial and multiracial demographics as one group in order to better understand and, in turn, accept people for who they are seen through the history of biracial and the judgement of physical perception. Multiracial identity has a deep and painful past in American history. During the Antebellum Era in the South, countless slave children were mixed race, half black and half white. Their black companions rejected them for being less black and white fathers did not claim them as their own due to their own selfish reasons and matriarchal genealogy. Matriarchal genealogy expressed that the mother determined the child's status of slave or free, used as a way to keep the child a slave at birth.…

Although the “relation satisfaction isn’t significantly different for interracial partners”, the biggest challenge they face is finding acceptance from not only they people who they love, but in addition to the people that surround them. A close friend of mine, takes part in a interracial relationship, her and her partner have been together for four years now. Thanks to those men and women that sacrificed their lives so that we can all be equal and not discriminated, interracial couples still are, occasionally faced with challenging situation. Using my friend as an example, they faced many difficulties when their relationship began, most of their problems originated through their parents, who “didn’t think getting involved together would be a good decision” as if it was the parents decisions to chose who they were to love. It was hard for either of their families to accept each other, one was a hispanic family, while the other one as African-American family.…

Fall of 2013 I started the Early College Alliance, otherwise known as ECA. For those who do not know, when you first start ECA you take High School level classes, with other High Schoolers during your first semester. After teachers review your progress you’ll either be placed in College classes, because you’re what they call, “College Ready,” or you’ll take another semester of High School classes. During my second year of ECA, I was placed in EMU College classes. During this time I was exposed to an environment in which I was interacting with adults in a classroom setting, versus being in school with students in my age group.…

As the population of biracial elementary and middle school children, also comes the rise of a population of unique individuals who may need guidance to assist in their self-identity. Over the course of the years, biracial children have been the target of a lot of scrutiny. In an article entitled School Counselors' Perceptions of Biracial Students' Functioning it states that “early research concerning biracial individuals came from a biological perspective that characterized interracial offspring as genetically, mentally, physically, and morally inferior and/or marginal beings (Kindaichi, 2010). This was just to say that children of interracial couples were seen as a low-rate subgroup. Because of the biracial youth becoming devalued and going unnoticed for some time as members of society, they have often been said to have exhibited a high likelihood of experiencing social marginalization, emotional isolation, depression, academic and behavioral problems, and conflicts about racial identity development, sexuality and relationships, academic and career aspirations, and parents' intercultural dynamics and conflict.…

If you really think about it, the social dynamics of prison are just intensified versions of the way the social dynamics actually are in the real world. Although many may not admit it, the belief in segregation that happens in the book of Short Eyes actually does still occur in the real world, but in a larger scale and maybe in a less of a dense way. Since we have moved along from the era of slavery and segregation, things like racism and discrimination are no longer as common in the modern world, but you can argue that it is completely still in existence, just not as much advertised. In the story, you basically have a small number of different “groups” that all either stick together or are torn apart.…

Race is associated with biology of human beings, whereas ethnicity is associated with the origin and culture. An individual coming into a society where his ethnicity and race is unfamiliar, an opportunity is open for both the individual and the population of that society to learn and get to know each other. It is imminent that the people of different racial backgrounds, especially multi-ethnic groups, will face all kinds of stereotypes when coming to a new society that is completely unfamiliar with the physical features, culture, traditions and world view of that ethnic group. However, that can be rectified with positive involvement and communication in different areas of that society. Individuals coming from various ethnic and racial backgrounds…
