There are a lot of similarities and differences between Sephy, and Paro. For example, this is shown in the play when Sephy says, "Could you deliver this letter to Callum McGregor? Today? He's staying with his aunt" (Cooke, 93). This is Sephy asking Sarah to deliver the letter to Callum. This shows that Sephy is being very selfish. By way of example, this is shown in the play when Callum says, “I didn’t need to hear any more. I ran out of the house, leaving the front door open” (Cooke, 53). This shows that Callum takes their action by their feelings. He didn't consider anything else than saving Sephy from the terror. He just ran out the house, and didn't think of his family worrying about him, and also about himself. Which also shows that he is selfless. This can be compared when the movie shows, Devdas leaves his home, and in anger he didn’t take Paro with him and ignored Paro. This shows that Devdas is a person who takes an action by his own feelings. He doesn't really think of anything when he gets angry. He just expresses his feelings to the people near him, and don't really think of other people's feeling who are watching Devdas. Devdas was just expressing his anger and ran out of his house, but he didn't notice the feelings of Paro, who was really upset of Devdas because Paro thought Devdas would take her along with him, and made a sense of betrayal to Paro. This shows that both Callum and Devdas is a person who takes action by their own feelings. This could be one of the similarities between two of them. Secondly, this is shown in the play when Callum says, “To be someone. To make a difference, I guess” (Cooke, 38). This quote shows that Callum is very ambitious. He tries everything to be successful in his life and to make a change in the society about racism. He tries his best to change the society although the society had a big effect to his life. This also shows that he is not a person who gets easily swayed from the environment. He doesn't get bothered from the society, but tries to be against it. This can be compared when the movie shows, Devdas asked his servant to open a ceremony for himself that represents ‘death’. This example explains that Devdas is a person who is very emotional. Devdas was in a hard
