“The Silent Holocaust”
People were being murdered each and every single day, not only were they murdered but they were being tortured and enslaved as well. This was only just the beginning for what would come to be known as the Guetemalan Civil War which went on to last for 36 years and violated 93% of the Bill of Human Rights.
This war started because a group of non-violent Mayan protesters were protesting against Guatemala’s government which didn’t allow the Mayans into Guatemala, without a doubt the Guatemalans were angry so they killed they protesters, the Guatemalan Civil war then began.
At the commencing of the Guatemalan Civil War Guatemala was being ruled by Gen. Miguel Ydigoras Fuentes who had absolute power. This was a very tragic
