The Significant Presence Of The Ghost In Shakespeare's Hamlet

In William Shakespeare’s tragedy, Hamlet, the ghost is a minor character but is a significant presence. The vengeance and destruction of the dramatic piece are all outcomes from the character’s fate, which was his death. When the ghost appears at the beginning of the play it begins to thrive the plot. The problem is then initiated the moment the ghost speaks to Hamlet and informs him of his death. Lastly, a very important but vigilant part of the play is when the ghost appears the moment Hamlet is speaking to his mother, but only Hamlet can see the ghost. Without the ghost appearing in the beginning, Hamlet wouldn’t have had that obligation of avenging his father. During this scene, the plot is rising, and Hamlet is letting his mother know what has been going on, and he starts to sound sane but at the same time the ghost begins to appear. During his appearance, one, he reminds Hamlet of his revenge and to not worry so much about his mother. This is vigilantly important to the story because without this appearance we wouldn’t have known how much King Hamlet cared for her or Hamlet could’ve taken another route in his vengeance. The other small, yet important event in the dramatic piece, is that the audience now knows that Hamlet can see and hear the spirit but his mother cannot. This then shows how Hamlet probably has gone sane and his mental instability can contribute to the rest of the play. Hamlet has become outrageously unstable due to the events that had occurred with King Hamlet and without him having his part in the play or his fate occurring, Hamlet probably would have been at a better state.
