A single unprotected intimate relationship with an infected person is sufficient to contract a sexually transmitted disease (STD). In the absence of an early diagnosis and a perfectly adapted treatment, such a disease can cause serious complications. When it comes to sexually transmitted diseases, I cannot rely on the "it will not happen to me”. I have to inform myself, to protect myself, and to treat myself if necessary, but it's much easier to prevent than to treat. Not all the contraceptive methods protect against STD, so I think medical consultation is absolutely necessary in this case.
