The Shot That Changed My Life

My 6-year-old self-didn't grasp the concept that animals didn’t like to be grabbed and treated as a toy, so naturally, I carried him all around the house like a baby as he tried to get released from my grasp. On one sunny Californian February day, my dad and I were just running around the house and messing around like we usually did and I decided that I should pick up the cat like a baby with his paws conveniently near my face. As I ran down the hall with the cat in my arms, my dad jumped out from a corner …show more content…
I definitely did not expect a giant syringe to be stabbed into my brow bone. As I was on the table arguing about the inevitable shot I would have to get, I finally but hesitantly complied. The moment that syringe touched my scratch, I immediately started screeching like some sort of bird again. The shot was only 6 seconds but it felt like 10 minutes of pain. After the horrible pain was gone and my screeching stopped, my whole eye area went numb. After that, she began stitching it up which was a strange feeling on its own. It was like something was crawling under my skin, but completely painless. After the whole fiasco was over, I felt fine minus the fact that I felt like I got punched in the eye. Years later I still have a scar above my right eye which is extremely annoying because it doesn't grab eyeshadow very well so usually the scar will be emphasized. If there is one thing I have learned from this experience is don’t hold the cat like a baby or else you will be traumatized by a

Discussion Reply to Our Scars Written by Rianna Crocker Most of my scars have been obtained through playing childhood games, sports, or unexpected awful encounters with vicious animals. How awful it must have been to have a scar on your face, a place that is inescapable from daily view, that reminds you of the death of your beloved friend and the grieving process that resulted in that scar. I too know what it is to lose such a precious friend at such a young age and the pain that grew inside. I must have been the tender age of four when the family cocker spaniel had a litter of puppies; two to be exact.…

Volunteer Hours Today Jenna and I volunteered at the Oxford-Lafayette Humane Society. We spent three hours walking the dogs and playing with the kittens. At first I was hesitant to spend three hours at the humane society, but the time went by faster than I had assumed. The first place I went in the shelter was the older dog room, and instantly I was taken aback by how many dogs there were. There was this one older dog snuggled up in the back of the kennel, it had the most depressing look on its face and all I wanted to do was hug it…

Fluffy A few years ago, when my mom lived in a house, not an apartment, My sister had gotten a cat named fluffy because of her obsession with cats. Fluffy looked like a cat out of a cartoon, with ginger fur, bright as if it could be mistaken for a fluffy orange, and white stripes, that looked like lightning bolts across the skin. I thought nothing would go wrong, but boy was I wrong… When Fluffy was not being played with, I would cuddle with him on the rocking chair until he fell asleep, which made him look like a kitten, It helped me deal with my anxiety, and stay happy with that. One particular day, I went to grab Fluffy to cuddle with him, I guess he wasn't in the mood because when I tried to pick him up, out of the blue, he…
