The trail was overgrown and not well kept. Most people in the town didn 't bother to come to this part of the woods, when only fifteen minutes away there were hiking mountains with lakes and ski resorts. The trail lead them through twists, turns and hills, Winnie thought the walk was very enjoyable. Birds sang and Jesse whistled along with them, singing the tune of his mothers beloved box. It brought back memories to Winnie and she adored it. After all, this is where she was raised. This is where her parents lived and died. This is where she chose to live …show more content…
Winnie was very concerned about him and got down on her knees to help him. The second she got down next to Jesse, Winnie fainted. She got this sharp pain in her side. Winnie tried to get up and couldn 't, she couldn 't even see anything. Flashes of color strapped across her face and white sparks bombarded her vision. A blanket of fire spread across Winnie 's body. Her skin felt like it was melting away, sagging to the point of no return. Winnie finally got her vision back after this horrendous moment , but it was only a fraction of what it used to be. She felt her face, which was once hot but now only consisted of cold wrinkles. Winnie felt weak. She tried to get up but her body wouldn 't let her. She looked over at Jesse, who once a handsome man was now taken by age. His receding hairline was lacking color and his bright blue eyes were now dull and glazed. His strong shoulders slumped and his hands had veins running through them. Winnie looked down at her own, which were nearly identical. She crawled over to Jesse and hugged him. He told her that he believed that water counteracted itself, and it was their time to pass. Maybe the immortal powers really were too good to be true. Winnie had tears falling down her face. She leaned her head against Jesse 's shoulder and looked at her beautiful husband, saying I love you. Then she closed her eyes, took her last breath and
