When people know the context of the literature they are studying, they can make connections with the reading to develop a better overall understanding. A Narrative of the Captivity and Restoration of Mrs. Mary Rowlandson is clearly Puritan literature. Rowlandson’s narrative is Puritan literature because of the Puritan elements present, the comparison of the role of God to that of other Puritan works, and the similarity of the focus of Rowlandson to the focus of other Puritan writers. Combining these elements validates Rowlandson’s work as Puritan literature. The first way to identify A Narrative of the Captivity and Restoration of Mrs. Mary Rowlandson as Puritan literature is to find the Puritan thoughts about which Rowlandson writes.…

A person’s development and outcome is directly associated with the type of influences they have in their lives. Whether they are good influences or bad, there is a strong correlation between the character of a person and the type of people by which they are influenced. Often family members, especially parents, act as the most influential factor in a person’s life. The influence of family members was one of the major themes in The Other Wes Moore. Mrs. Morgan’s Feelings While preparing to go to the Public Assistance Office, Mrs. Morgan was feeling a slight dose of anxiety. I believe she felt this way because she woke up very early to get her children ready, and even dressed her baby the night before. I feel like she did these things to assure that she would be at the bus stop on time so she could get to the office. After boarding the bus without enough money and being called out by the bus driver in front of everybody, once Mrs. Morgan sat down, I believe she was feeling embarrassed and a bit overwhelmed as she cried during the bus ride and exited the bus through the side door because she could not bare to look the people in the other seats in the eye. Although a lady stood up for her…

For example, in the story Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl, this young girl that came from a Jewish family who inspired many people to never give up in times of crisis; hiding away from the Nazis in Amsterdam. Another true story comes from letters of Japanese American children in the United States’ internment camps during World War II. Some of these children’s letters were gathered and put in the book, Dear Miss Breed: True Stories of the Japanese Americans Incarcerated During World War II and a Librarian Who Made a Difference, Louise Owaga writes to Miss Breed about their beautiful journey to the incarcerated camp.…
An example of a reason as to why Charles V thought that he had failed at the end of his reign may have been the growth of Protestant Lutheranism in Germany. This growth led to distrust between Charles the Emperor of much of the Catholic world and German princes who had turned to Protestantism as the alternative to Catholicism. A clear criticism of Charles can be seen in the writing of William Robertson, ‘To check the growth of these evils (Protestantism) , and to punish such as had impiously contributed to the spread of them, the emperor, having long and without success made trial of gentler remedies,’ Robertson suggests that Charles and his approach to the growth of protestant belief may have contributed to its popularity and that it was…
