Dr. Bill Knaus, professor of American International College and Founder of Rational Emotive Education, states about Jo’s behavior and emotion. He says “Cho (Jo)’s psychological picture is highly complex with many coexisting factor that are part of the picture, including an ability to remain focused and organized while still action deranged”. Also, he points out that Jo may have suffered from a rare mental disorder called paranoid schizophrenia which is characterized by distrust, suspiciousness and delusions of persecution but his mental disorder statistically is very rare for mentally distress individual to go on a killing spree. In 2009, National Institute for Mental Health (NIMH) reported that suicide was the third leading cause for young people ages 15-24 and it is 14.4percent of all death in 2009. NIMH provides different risk factors for suicide but it lists depression on priority of suicide (http://www.nimh.nih.gov/health/publications/suicide-a-major-preventable-mental-health-problem-fact-sheet/index.shtml). The Journal of Cambridge University in U.K, Development and Psychopathology, delivers “The many teenagers are troubled with depression and anxiety, which are most common form of psychopathy in adolescence and adulthood.” In addition, it says, “Adolescence can be considered as high risk development period for the onset and intensification of depression and anxiety symptoms” (Gaysina and Richard, 1331). Moreover, this article describes puberty as “sensitive period” and it points out that the puberty is one of reason of depression and anxiety due to developmental of brain and growth hormone released.
