The Shawshank Redemption (1994), directed and written by Frank Darabont, is a film that takes place in the 1940s and follows Andy Dufresne, who is convicted of multiple sentences for allegedly killing his wife and the man she was cheating on him with, which he denies ever having done. Unethical Business Issues in Shawshank Redemption” I selected the movie “Shawshank Redemption” to do my independent project on because the main character Andy Dufresne goes through multiple character changes that have an immense impact on the movie and it is a great movie. Red says, “…It was like some beautiful bird flapped into our drab little cage and made those walls dissolve away, and for the briefest of moments, every last man in Shawshank felt free.” From this quote we can see that Andy reminds all the prisoners of the hope which was once forgotten. In the film, ‘Shawshank Redemption’, different film techniques were used to convey a deeper meaning than the surface story. Upon closer analysis the viewer can see that dialogue, music and symbolism all contribute to the inspiring theme of ‘hope’.…
