Let me ask you a question. Have you ever looked in the mirror and thought something negative about yourself? That should not be the case but there are many others struggling with the same thing; because of the sexualization of young girls and women in the media. The sexualization of younger girls’ even women has been going on for as long as I can remember. It’s all over the media. Did you know that eighty percent of 10-year old girls in the U.S. report that they have been on a diet? Also that the number one wish for girls ages 11-17 is to be thinner? Because they’re the ones getting older and maturing. Too many teenage females are being bombarded with not being good enough; especially in this generation. Not to sound sexist or anything but men do not know how hard it is to be a woman. In today’s society women are expected to do everything a man can do, plus more. A woman is expected to work, clean, cook, get married, have children, and take care of the children and her husband. After having a baby your body isn’t always left the way it was before you got pregnant. Because of this it leaves many women, and even teenage girls feeling insecure with their bodies. It might not be so bad if we didn’t have well known celebrities such as Beyoncé, or Kim Kardashian that have had babies and are still very slim and have no stretch marks. I believe this is true because the things they show in the media could truly and has changed the way girls and women look at themselves. Some teenage girls and women care about nothing more than their appearance. The parents of a teenage girl should be very understanding and helpful. Teenage girls have many different emotions and a lot going on; they don’t need the media making them feeling uncomfortable too.
