Social media has evolved tremendously since Facebook became a hit in 2007. Its use of innovative and interactive ways to communicate with other people around the world using photos, videos and words has everyone young, old and alike hooked and wanting more. Although social media has been very successful one question remains: Are women using these outlets appropriately? “Princess Chantelle” uses Twitter and Facebook to encourage male ‘slaves’ to buy her gifts, posting pictures of herself and of the gifts received with tags such as #wishlistgirls, #rinse and #paypigs. In return she offers appearances on camera or sexual pictures for men who enjoy the concept of financial domination. She has wish lists of underwear, fetish costumes and high-heel shoes,” (“Revealed: How British Teenage Girls Are Exchanging Sexual Selfies Online for Gifts”). Young women do not realize the consequences that come with exposing themselves on the internet.
