They are then sent out of class to change her clothing, it’s seen as “inappropriate” and distracting to male students. I am using examples from my own sixteen year old eyes being a high school student, I have witnessed this at first hand. Why should a girl have to be sent out of class, lose her education time because a sixteen year old sexually driven boy is being distracted by skin, we need to stop sexualizing the female body. “Negative sexualization of teen girls by peers, by characterizing them as sluts” (Sexualization 4). First off, the actual definition of a slut is, “a woman who has many casual sexual partners” (Google). Some synonyms were, promiscuous woman, prostitute, and whore. Another definition was, “a woman with low standards of cleanliness” (Google). Why does the fact that I’m wearing some shorts or whatever I may be wearing categorize me as a slut? How is the media supposed to promote the what they would call an “ideal image” of the woman body but that isn’t even real and later be airbrushed for the magazine cover. There should be a law against photoshopping the man or woman body without her direct consent. “Up to 81% of music videos contain sexual imagery, sexually objectifies woman” (Sexualization 2-3). Why does the media need to promote nudity in a sexual sense to grab attention from its viewers. The body is a beautiful piece of art the media should not sexualize the body and lead society to believe that our body is sexual and that we should be ashamed of how our body looks and whatnot. It is possible that the media believes that they are not at fault of how society views
