The Seven Habits Profile

After taking the Seven Habits Profile I found that my emotional bank account is a 14 out of a possible score of 18. On the scale that puts me between good and very good. I think this is a correct assessment and it is one of my traits that I truly embrace. I enjoy showing kindness and consideration to people and making sure they feel that I have met their needs when they come to see me. I now work very hard to make sure that my commitments and promises are kept. I think having my daughter greatly assisted in this aspect because you never want to break a promise to your little girl. Where my score is brought down in this category is speaking negatively of others when they are not present. I am good at this but I could be a whole lot better.

In the Life Balance category I have some work to do. I scored an 11 which is between fair and good and life balance should be between very good and outstanding. I do good maintaining balance between the work and family but could be more involved with my friends. I also do a pretty good job of making sure that the needs of

I feel that I am in control of my life and tend to situate myself so as that I maintain control. I am very careful with my words when speaking with others and tend to err on the cautious side to keep that control. I also do not drink so that I can keep control. I do not like any situation where I feel like I do not have control of myself. I am good but not very good at focusing my efforts on things I can control. This is another life lesson I was taught when we had our daughter. She reminds me daily how little control I truly do have on everything. One of my earnest focuses is to wake up happy and to be happy. I firmly believe that your thoughts determine your mood and you are responsible for your own mood. I also believe that our moods can be infectious and I would rather share a cheerful mood with others rather than a sour

Based on my “Seven Habits Profile” results, I would like to discuss how three strengths will help me succeed as servant leader. 1. The first strength I observed on my “Seven Habits Profile” is being proactive. This is the habit of taking responsibility for your life, not blaming others for your current situation, and controlling things you can control in your life. Being proactive means watching what my colleagues are doing and trying to stay one step ahead of them.…

Another way of understanding and explain marijuana use within skateboarding culture, would be through the routine activity theory that Johns used in her dissertation. Despite her not finding a higher amount of substance use among skateboarders than other subcultures, she did find an increased amount of substance use among the older informants in the 12th grade. As mentioned in earlier, this would match the findings of Demant & Järvinen, and the routine activity theory may therefore be able to find an explanation of why older adolescents are likely to engage in substance use more generally. This may be because older adolescents are more likely to be without parental supervision, or spend more of their time in an unstructured manner since they…

I know I am making a great impact on their lives and that many of them look to me for guidance through their every day problems. My scores was relatively low. It was 218 for the first one and 210 for the second one. I believe this happened because I am young and have not experienced many things that really cause people stress. Also I have lived a very stable life and haven't had a lot of experience many of my peers may have had.…

Stephen Covey proposes that there are seven habits that can be learned to improve one’s personal and interpersonal effectiveness. I completely agree all seven habits Stephen has written in this book, throughout the book Covey shares his own personal experiences instead of imagining situations you may be in, it is easier for the readers to relate to our everyday circumstances. I found there are particular areas of each habit to be more influential or relatable to my life. Listening to our language The way we chose to speak in normal conversation, formal presentations, and meetings contributes to our own perception as well as other’s perception about our education, competence, and professionalism.…

Growing up in one of the poorest regions of the United States has taught me two things; one, we are not defined by stereotypes, and two, hardships are made to be overcome. Nestled in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains, Middlesboro, KY sits on the Kentucky, Tennessee, and Virginia border. The multicolored fall foliage and the vivid green mountains in the spring are disserved by the descriptor spectacular. My roots are firmly nestled in the Cumberland Gap where Daniel Boone started his journey to the West decades ago. I am proud to call myself an Appalachian-American.…

Habits are odd tricks: they can be formed even without the memory facet of the brain. This idea and more is explored in The Power of Habit: Why We Do What We Do in Life and Business by Charles Duhigg. The book focuses on the life of a man named Eugene Pauly, or E.P. in the medical world. In the early 1990’s, Eugene came down with a terrible illness. His wife, Beverly, rushed him to the hospital, where doctors concluded he was suffering from viral encephalitis, a relatively harmless disease that, in rare cases, makes its way into the brain and causes damage to the tissue where thoughts and dreams are stored.…

The Habits of Mind are strategies used by teachers and students that promote craftsmanship, strategic reasoning, perseverance and creativity. Usually when we use these resources, we get better results and greater significance in our schoolwork than being disorganized and receiving poor results. In my years of learning at Saint Mary's School, I have learned many Habits of Mind that make me successful with a first honor roll. The three that I use most are: Striving for Accuracy: the best way to make sure you have gotten everything on a test is setting high standards. On a test, I usually check to see if I've skipped any problems and if I still have time left I do the test again to check if I've gotten the correct answers.…

The habit of mind that I believe I made the most progress in this semester is, written communication. Written communication is an effective writer who effectively persuades, fixes their message to the audience, can examine and convey complex ideas, produces clear and coherent writing, plans, revises, and edits. An example of my work which has written communication was the Zheng He essay. I was an effective writer during the introduction paragraph because I produced clear and coherent writing. Such as, “Zheng He should be celebrated in Chinese civilization because he sailed greater distances than anyone else during his time, and he managed large ship sizes while also maintaining huge amount of boats and crewman.”…

These factors consist of Openness to experience, Conscientiousness, Extraversion, Agreeableness, and Neuroticism, which can also be referred to as OCEAN. After taking the “What Is My Big Five Personality Profile” test, I scored the highest on the Emotional Stability, followed by a three-way tie with Agreeableness, Conscientiousness, and Openness; the lowest score I received was for Extraversion, I received a 10 out of 10 on the Emotional Stability category; this means that I am a relaxed, secure, unworried individual. I completely agree with this result, generally I tend to be an laid-back individual that tries to see the positive and rarely stress over the insignificant things in life.…
