The setting of Underground Scientist Save the Day contributes to the plot greatly. In the beginning of the story we learn that a boy named Jim and his family are stuck in their house because of the trash problem being so bad that the cant even leave their house. I learned this because in the text it states, "Jim Chang had been cooped up in his family's house forced inside by piles of garbage that now blocked ever single street of his town." This piece of text proves the struggle Jim and his family faced in this situation.
