The Effect Misconceptions on individuals with disabilities Individuals who have disabilities are categorized as "being a punishment in society" (Grace Tsao, 2000).A girl was born with a birth defect called Spina Bifida this defect caused her to be paralyzed from the waist down. Being paralyzed made her confound to a wheelchair which changed how she sees herself within people, and society. All her life she feels alienated and neglected from people around her such as some of her family members, and classmates who distant themselves. She observed their body movement and the language that was used towards her due to her disability that affected her self-esteem. I would like to explore more in depth by doing extensive research on why the misconceptions that some others make on individuals who have a physical disability to be treated differently based on their exterior appearance.
